By Grace(陈彤心) from 2501
Respected teachers and dear fellow students,
Good morning!I’m Grace from 2501. It’s my great honor to stand here and give a speech about The Importance of Kindness.
In a fast-paced world where we are often occupied with academic pressures, personal goals and praise, we sometimes overlook a simple but powerful virtue—kindness. Few of us realize that kindness is the most valuable treasure we can possess, and it is the base of a warm and peaceful society.
First of all, kindness has magic power to heal pain and connect people. A soft smile, a sincere word of comfort, or a small help can mean a lot to a person who is having a hard time. Think about the classmate who feels sad after failing a test; your timely encouragement can help her get out of bad feelings. Think about the stranger who is in trouble on the street; your voluntary help can make his unhappy day better. Kindness is like sunshine in winter. It cuts through the cold of hopelessness and warms every lonely heart. It breaks the walls between people, takes away misunderstandings and hate, and makes relationships more honest and gentle.
Furthermore, kindness is not only a gift to others, but also good for our own heart. When we help others with a true heart, we gain a strong sense of fulfillment and inner peace that no material enjoyment can bring. Psychologists have proved that people who often help others tend to have a more positive attitude towards life.Kindness shapes our character, cultivates our empathy, and makes us become more easy-going, generous and respectable. It guides us to look at the world with a loving heart, discover the beauty around us, and live a more meaningful and fulfilling life.
In addition, if everyone is kind to others, there will be no indifference, no discrimination and no conflicts. Small acts of kindness gather together to form a huge force that promotes social harmony and drives social progress. We don’t need to do great things to show kindness; every small good act is important. Holding the door for others, listening patiently to others’ troubles, or respecting everyone around us—these are all performances of kindness.
Kindness is never weak or insignificant. It is a silent force that can change the world. We don’t need to be extraordinary to be kind; all we need is a sincere heart and a willingness to give. In our daily life, let us always keep kindness in our heart, practice kindness in every action, and spread kindness to everyone around us.
To conclude, kindness is the most beautiful language in the world. It goes beyond age, nationality and background, connecting all hearts closely. Let us be the messenger of kindness, and use our kindness to make this world a better place to live in.
Thank you for listening!
