Good morning, everyone. I’m Susie from 1903. My topic today is My Favourite Olympics Winter Games.

After seven years of preparation and planning, on February 4, 2022, the 24th Winter Olympic Games opened in Beijing, the capital city of China. The wonderful opening ceremony, rigorous epidemic prevention and the lovely mascot Bing Dwen Dwen have all made this Winter Olympics well-received all over the world. The world's top athletes come together to compete for their country and honor. There are 7 major events and 15 sub-events in the Winter Olympics. Among them my favorite sport is figure skating.

Figure skating was the first winter sport to be included in the Olympic Games and also one of the most popular sports at the Winter Olympics. Players perform spins, jumps, and other challenging moves on ice skates. It combines ice skating with the art of dance. The players choreograph the dance, and slide out beautiful movements with the rhythm and beats of the music, and most of them have their own national style. There is no doubt that figure skating combines grace and athleticism.

When it comes to figure skating, the most impressive player must be Yuzuru Hanyu from Japan. He has been practicing figure skating since he was a child, and has won numerous world awards, breaking world records 19 times. Even so, he has been challenging himself and is never complacent. at this year's Winter Olympics, his goal is not only to win the gold medal and three consecutive championships, but also to challenge himself to complete the quadruple axel jump. No athlete has ever successfully completed this movement in competition so far. This action that only existed in theory was the goal he had been striving for, and he has invested so much time and effort into practicing. The world has its eyes on the field, hoping and blessing him to complete this challenge. Although he did not win the gold medal in the end, his actions in the competition were recognized by the International Skating Federation as a 4A. His perseverance and the way he handles pressure and challenges are praised by people around the world.

In fact, the sportsmanship can be also seen in many other athletes. For instance, Eileen Gu, a 18-year-old Chinese player, won two gold medals and one silver in freestyle skiing, bringing glory to our country. She not only showed great talent in skiing, but also displayed amazing academic skills with an offer from Stanford University.

In my opinion, the significance of the Winter Olympics is not only to help the development of China's winter sports, but also to show us the athletes' valuable sportsmanship and patriotism. More importantly, it encourages young people like us to pursue what we love and never give up.
